Scottsdale spans a wide range of housing eras and property types, from mid-century homes on smaller South Scottsdale lots to sprawling custom estates in North Scottsdale communities like DC Ranch, Silverleaf, Grayhawk, and Troon North. The McDowell Mountains form the eastern backdrop, and many properties sit on rocky desert terrain where grading and site preparation for outdoor features requires careful planning. Homes in established central neighborhoods like McCormick Ranch and Gainey Ranch often have mature landscaping and aging pool decks that need resurfacing or full redesign. North Scottsdale's newer custom builds frequently call for high-end water features and grottos that match the resort-style aesthetic of the surrounding community.

Hardscape & Water Feature Contractor
North Scottsdale's custom home communities sit against rocky desert terrain, and building a grotto or waterfall here means working with the natural landscape rather than against it. We use both faux and real rock to create water features that look like they belong in the Sonoran Desert, not imported from a catalog. Properties in Silverleaf and Troon North often have elevation changes and boulder outcroppings that we incorporate directly into the design.
Central Scottsdale neighborhoods like McCormick Ranch and Gainey Ranch have a large stock of pools built in the 1980s and 1990s. These pools often need more than a fresh coat of plaster. We handle pool repair and refurbishment, including surface renewal, coping replacement, and deck resurfacing, so homeowners get a fully updated outdoor space rather than a patchwork fix.
Outdoor kitchens and BBQ setups in Scottsdale need to handle both intense summer heat and the mild winters that make outdoor dining practical year-round. We build outdoor kitchen structures that are designed for the desert climate, using materials that do not warp, fade, or deteriorate under sustained UV exposure. Chad Masters works directly with each homeowner to make sure the finished space fits how the family actually uses the backyard.
At a glance
Grottos and custom water features are among the most requested projects in North Scottsdale, where estate-sized lots and resort-style pools set the standard for outdoor living. Pool repair and refurbishment are in steady demand in central Scottsdale neighborhoods like McCormick Ranch, where pools built in the 1980s and 1990s need structural updates and surface renewal. Travertine pool decking is a natural fit for Scottsdale properties because it complements the desert stone aesthetic common in communities like DC Ranch and Silverleaf. Outdoor fireplaces and kitchens extend the usable season on covered patios, where mild winters make outdoor entertaining practical for much of the year.

Common questions from Scottsdale, AZ customers about our services, process, and coverage.
Rocky terrain in North Scottsdale communities like Troon North and Silverleaf is well-suited to natural or faux rock waterfalls that follow the existing grade. We design features that use the slope and boulder outcroppings already on the property, which produces a more natural result than trying to flatten the site.
Pools from that era often need new plaster or pebble surfaces, updated coping, and deck resurfacing at minimum. We assess the shell, equipment, and surrounding deck together so the refurbishment addresses the full system rather than just the visible surface.
Yes. Grottos can be added to existing pools in most cases, depending on the pool's structural condition and the available space around the shell. We evaluate the existing pool before designing the grotto to make sure the addition is structurally sound.
Travertine is a strong choice for North Scottsdale properties because its natural stone appearance complements the desert and mountain aesthetic common in communities like DC Ranch and Silverleaf. It also stays cooler underfoot than solid concrete in direct afternoon sun.
Yes. Outdoor fireplaces are a popular addition in Scottsdale, where mild winters make outdoor living comfortable well into the evening. We design and build outdoor fireplace structures that fit the scale and style of the surrounding patio and home.
